DEMOCRATS CONDEMN CARBONE FOR FALSIFYING D’AURIZIO ENDORSEMENT
Irondequoit Supervisor has made no endorsement in County Legislature race.
Rochester, NY |November 6, 2011| Monroe County Democrats harshly criticized Republican County Legislature candidate Joe Carbone for manufacturing an endorsement by Irondequoit Town Supervisor Mary Joyce D’Aurizio without her authorization and without her knowledge.
County Chair Joe Morelle condemned Carbone for his dishonesty, “Mr. Carbone falsified an endorsement from Supervisor D’Aurizio and, to make matters worse, manufactured and published a quote from her, without her knowledge and consent. Mr. Carbone’s actions are deplorable. He owes Supervisor D’Aurizio and the voters of Irondequoit an immediate apology.”
Morelle said this is not the first incident during the campaign that calls into question Mr. Carbone’s fitness to serve, but it is clearly the most dishonorable. “Mr. Carbone’s campaign has engaged in an endless stream of highly unethical tactics. He has engaged in a campaign of smears and distortions. He has tried to buy the election with tens of thousands of dollars. But making up out of thin air quotes and endorsements from leading Irondequoit officials is simply unacceptable,” Morelle said this morning.
“Mr. Carbone needs to learn that the ends don’t justify the means in Monroe County. We have a right to demand better. We have a right to demand honesty.”
